Overview
Gesture-Based Drawing with My Niece for AI Displays
An experimental interactive drawing project that began as a family play tool and evolved into a versatile prototype. With watercolor-inspired visuals and intuitive gestures, it supports both creative play and handwriting practice, while being compatible with AI displays such as Google Nest Hub, Amazon Alexa Show, LG robot displays, and iPads.
Challenge
Studying abroad kept me from seeing my two nieces and nephew for a long time, and I wanted to create a way for us to enjoy drawing together remotely despite the distance.
Objective
Design an interactive drawing experience using watercolor-style visuals, vivid colors, and finger-point gestures so children can draw, clear, and switch canvases intuitively and playfully.
Result
Delivered a joyful, child-friendly activity that allowed free layering, blending, and expression, turning drawing into an intuitive shared experience we could enjoy together.
